Shattered windows at 1080 Chopper Crescent in Kuujjuaq, following the violent standoff that took place March 2 and 3 inside this house, which started when an armed man shot and killed Steve Dery, a young Kativik Regional Police Force officer, and wounded his partner, Joshua Boreland. “We are all deeply affected by the loss of Steve Dery who was killed on duty at the age of 27. We also feel and share the pain of Joshua Boreland, who was injured alongside Steve; he will remember this event for the rest of his life,” said a March 4 statement from the Nunavik Police Association, the union which represents KRPF officers.
