Cambridge Bay elder and lay leader Mary Kilaodluk leads the Feb. 19 Innuinaqtun service at the St. George’s Anglican Church. There, worshippers remembered Bishop John “Jack” Sperry, a former Bishop of the Arctic diocese and translator of the Bible, prayer books and hymns into Innuinaqtun, who died Feb. 11 at the age of 87. “He honoured you to the rest of the world,” said a letter from Sperry’s children, which was read during the service. “Dad’s ministry and what has been accomplished, he credits to your support, love and faithfulness.” A funeral service for Sperry took place Feb. 18 in Yellowknife.
