Elders at Cambridge Bay's May Hakongak library and cultural centre sew tiny pieces of sealskin for figures that will eventually end up on a large sealskin wall hanging. Shining from above is a flexible light bought purchased by Cambridge Bay resident Marg Epp, who donated the lamp to the cultural centre as a way of thanking the elders for their help.

They are all so gracious and willing to help,” Epp said. “I noticed that sitting on the floor sewing, they were a long way from a light source and florescent lights are bad lighting anyway so I wanted to make things a bit easier for them.” (PHOTO BY JANE GEORGE)
