If you own a Canada Goose parka, do you see its Canada Goose Arctic Program logo on the sleeve? That distinctive patch shows the North Pole, with longitude and latitude lines “to approximate the look and feel of a traditional Arctic map.” Canada Goose Inc. has developed a hologram sewn into every jacket and accessory as proof of authenticity. But Canada Goose has also launched a lawsuit against International Clothiers over trademark infringement, filing a statement of claim in federal court to stop that company from using its Canada Weather Gear and Super Triple Goose logos, “or any confusingly similar mark,” reports Canadian Press. “Fake Canada Goose parkas are made with inferior materials and below par quality standards, resulting in jackets that offer no protection from the elements and can actually pose health risks to those who wear them. Additionally, the production of counterfeit goods often support illegal activities such as child labour, unsafe working conditions and organized crime,” Canada Goose writes on its website.
