At the end, Trudeau issued a statement saying he will hold annual meetings with Indigenous leaders. “We will be seeking views on the way forward for: the national inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls; a national reconciliation framework informed by the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, starting with the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; and the funding and fiscal relationship required to close the gap in education and economic outcomes,” Trudeau said.
