Photo: Clyde River hunters will stay warm thanks to seamstresses

Parkas for everyone: the Elders Committee and Ilisaqsivik Society in Clyde River just completed a sewing program that will make some Clyde River hunters very happy. The project brought together a group of 10 sewers to made clothes for local hunters who were in need of warm clothing but who may not have sewers in their family or the means to buy warm gear. The program unfolded over the last month at Ilisaqsivik and ten hunters are now outfitted with warm parkas, pants, and fur mitts. On its Facebook page, Ilisaqsivik paid special thanks to Elders Committee coordinator Mimie Natanine for organizing the project and bringing the seamstresses together. (PHOTO COURTESY ILISAQSIVIK)
