Photo: Coast-to-coast guard stops in Iqaluit

This refurbished Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker, known as C3, stops in Frobisher Bay July 29 and July 30 to pick up passengers for the next leg of its 150-day journey from Toronto to Victoria, B.C. via the Northwest Passage. The voyage, initiated by the annual Students On Ice Foundation, is meant to “inspire a deeper understanding of our land, our peoples and the past, present and future of country,” said the organization. The ship is set to arrive in Qikiqtarjuaq Aug. 5, Clyde River Aug. 9 and Pond Inlet Aug. 12 before it sails onto the Kitikmeot region. (PHOTO BY BETH BROWN)
