While many scientists are seeing their Arctic research programs cut, on Sept. 15 the ArcticNet research network based out of Laval University celebrated the official announcement that it will receive $67.3 million for the next seven years. ArcticNet, which operates its summer research from on board the Coast Guard icebreaker, the Amundsen, plans to spend its money on 34 projects, including two new projects dealing focusing on Inuit health and education.
