Photo: First Inuktitut app out

The Canada Council for the Arts has just launched what is believed to be the country’s first Inuktitut-language app, or computer software application, to encourage Inuit artists to apply for its several grants.The tool, available on Apple’s mobile devices and Google Android, guides first-time applicants through the council’s website and explains the application process from beginning to end. Designers from Ottawa tech firm FaveQuest had to create the language specifically for the app and tell it to override devices’ default settings.They hope it might open up a market for more Inuktitut-language apps.
