Photo: Flipper visits Frobisher Bay

You don’t expect to run into a pod of dolphins in Frobisher Bay, but that’s what happened to Adla Itorcheak and a friend as they were heading off to hunt on Aug. 29. The dolphins — which are not usually seen in the Eastern Arctic waters — seemed to be feeding on capelin. Others have since told Itorcheak they saw dolphins around Frobisher Bay last year, sightings which may indicate that dolphins, like other whales, are expanding their ranges northwards as the climate warms.
