Thirty-six new Nunavik teachers gather at their orientation session in Kuujjuaq before heading out Aug. 12 to their schools. Nunavik’s school year started Aug. 15, and during this first week, schools will welcome students back with various activities and special events, said the Kativik School Board. The communities of Akulivik, Umiujaq, Quaqtaq and Kangiqsujuaq also plan to offer a cultural instruction pilot project for a third year which features three one-week blocks of cultural instruction with land-based activities. “We wish an excellent school year to all our students, teachers and employees,” said the KSB in a release.
