Economic Development and Transport Minister Peter Taptuna unveils Nunavut’s new license plate design at the territorial legislature March 6. The new plate features a night scene with northern lights, a polar bear and an inuksuit, to “reflect the beauty of Nunavut,” Taptuna said. The new plate, designed by Iqaluit resident Ron Froese, was selected from 200 designs submitted last year. The new plates will brought into circulation this summer to replace the iconic polar bear plates Nunavut has used under license from the Northwest Territories since it become its own territory in 1999.
