Photo: Governor General honours Arviat student for academics

Arviat student Shelby Angalik shows off her Governor General’s bronze medal for academics, which she received May 5 from the man himself, Governor General David Johnston. Johnston and his wife Sharon Johnston also met with Nunavut Commissioner Nellie Kusugak and the mayor and council while in Arviat, and later visited John Arnalukjuak High School. Their Excellencies are visiting eight Arctic communities this month during a Hudson Bay regional tour that began May 4 in Churchill, Man. This is the most extensive northern tour Johnston has ever made and will include stops in Chesterfield Inlet, Rankin Inlet, Coral Harbour, Cape Dorset, Salluit and Kuujjuaraapik-Whapmagoostui.
