The Legislative Assembly of Nunavut has lowered its flags to half-mast to honour Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, a 24-year-old reservist who was standing on guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa Oct. 22 when he was shot by a gunman at around 10 a.m. Ottawa's downtown core remained on lockdown for most of the day Wednesday. The gunman, who was later shot and killed after he made his way into Centre Block on Parliament Hill with a rifle, has been identified as Canadian-born Michael Zehaf-Bibeau.
