Photo: Hauling out on the Belcher Islands

Arthur Elijassiapik was boating between his hometown of Inukjuak and the Belcher Islands last summer, when he spotted these walruses hauled out on rocks and captured the moment with his cellphone camera. The photo earned him third place in the Nunavik Marine Regional Wildlife Board’s 2017 photo contest. The NMRWB is looking for more wildlife photos from Nunavimmiut in 2018.
