The Transportation Safety Board plans to investigate the May 12 crash of Bell 212 helicopter, which took place as it left the Fox 3 distance early warning site en route to the Hall Beach Distance Early Warning site, seen here. Two of the five crew and passengers on board were injured, but not severely, said Mike Lavoy, the vice-president of Helicopter Transport Service, the owner of the helicopter under contract with the Department of National Defence. Lavoy described the incident as an “upset,” which occurred as the helicopter attempted to take off in suddenly-deteriorating conditions. The blade was damaged as the helicopter rolled on its side, he said, but a new helicopter is scheduled to arrive as a replacement. (FILE PHOTO)
