Photo: Hockey camp comes to Iqaluit

Young Nunavut hockey players wasted no time taking to the ice on Aug. 11, their first day at the Nunavut Stars Hockey Camp in Iqaluit. The hockey camp is hosting more than 100 youth aged five to 18, from around Nunavut, in a week-long series of on and off-ice activities focused on fitness, nutrition and team-building as well as hockey-playing, says director Jesse Mike. Sponsor First Air flew in participants from communities outside of Iqaluit. This year’s 10th annual camp includes instruction from coaches of major junior teams in Ontario.
