Members of Puvirnituq’s addictions support group Isaruit (Wings) set off to escort residents to and from holiday parties between Christmas and New Year’s. The free taxi service, modeled after Quebec’s Opération Nez Rouge program, helped shuttle more than 1,000 Puvirniturmiut to and from festivities as a way to cut down on incidents of drinking and driving in the Nunavik community of 1,700.
