Photo: I love the Arctic

Feel the love: about 60 people created an “I Love Arctic” human banner on Piha Beach, near Auckland, New Zealand, April 20, when Greenpeace organized an event that produced more than 10,000 human banners in the shape of a heart, spelling out “I Love Arctic,” in 38 countries. The message: to leave the Arctic off-limits for oil exploration and industrial fishing. Greenpeace says it plans to present its “demands” along with all the “I Love Arctic” photos from around the world to the Arctic Council foreign ministers and permanent participants when they meet May 15 in Kiruna in northern Sweden.
