Photo: ICC Greenland hosts executive meeting in Nuuk

The Inuit Circumpolar Council-Greenland hosted an executive council meeting in Nuuk from Jan. 13 to Jan. 15 so members could discuss a number of items, including the Kitigaaruit declaration, unanimously passed at the July 2014 ICC assembly in Inuvik. That declaration reaffirmed ICC’s priorities on a number of issues, including environmental stewardship, Arctic shipping safety, sustainable economic development in the Arctic, food security and health and well-being. All members of the executive attended the Nuuk meeting except Elena Kaminskaya of ICC-Chukotka. Other items on the council’s agenda included the upcoming United States chairmanship in the Arctic Council and ICC’s participation in various international conferences such as Arctic Circle, Arctic Change, Arctic Frontiers and the Arctic Economic Forum.
