Photo: Inclusion Café celebrates disabilities awareness with free treats

Two Iqalungmiut help themselves to baked goods and coffee prepared by the Inclusion Café in the lobby of the Igluvut Building Dec. 3. The café, a volunteer-run organization helping those with disabilities develop employment skills, provided treats for a lunch-hour drop-in set up by the territory’s Department of Family Services and the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society. The drop-in marked the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. Carolyn Curtis, project manager for the NDMS, said the Inclusion Café has been a huge success and their staff of 10 prepared, among other things, chocolate truffle sea-salt cookies and whole grain carrot cake with maple glaze.
