The gathering, which included many capacity-building workshops, was held to promote women’s representation in leadership roles and to “draw attention and pay respect to the leadership roles women hold in our communities with respect to the preservation and revitalization of Indigenous languages and cultures.” Speakers included former Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami president Mary Simon and Dr. Marie Wilson, commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
