Photo: Inuit artists in New York to promote collection

Cape Dorset artists Papiara Tukiki, left and Saimaiyu Akesuk take in Pablo Picasso’s sculpture Reclining Bather, on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, accompanied by local art collector Edward J. Guarino. The artists were in New York earlier this week promoting Cape Dorset’s 2015 print collection. Tukiki and Saimaiyu took part in a panel discussion on Inuit art at the Brooklyn Museum, which is home to six prints from Cape Dorset’s very first collection in 1959.
