Photo: Inuit women of Influence gather in Ottawa

Nunavik singer Elisapie Isaac holds a sealskin backdrop behind the renowned Cape Dorset artist, Kenojuak Ashevak, in Ottawa during a Nov. 3 photo shoot on Canada’s “northern women of influence” for the Northern Lights 2012 Business and Cultural Showcase and Ottawa Life Magazine. Other women invited for the photo shoot included Nunavut MP and federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq, Nellie Cournoyea, CEO and chairperson of the Inuvialuit Regional Corp., Isabella Pain, senior negotiator for the Nunatsiavut Government, Mary Simon, president of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, Maggie Emudluk, chairperson of the Kativik Regional Government, climate change activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier, Nunavut Premier Eva Aariak and Kathy Dunderdale, premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.
