Photo: Inuit youth capture relocation stories on film

Two young women in Grise Fiord film local resident Larry Audlaluk last summer talking about his family’s relocation from Northern Quebec to the High Arctic in the 1950s. One of the goals of the newly-launched Iqqaumavara project was to provide video production training to local youth in each of the three communities affected by the relocation. In Inukjuak, Resolute Bay and Grise Fiord, eight young Inuit had the chance to learn the basics of documentary filmmaking. You can watch some of the interviews and films they produced at www.iqqaumavara.com. (PHOTO COURTESY OF IQQAUMAVARA)
