Yes, there are still angels in Iqaluit. After a threat of disbandment due to lack of board members, several Iqalummuit joined board member Corinne Attagutsiak (right) at a meeting she organized Nov. 7 to continue the Angel Tree campaign. The Angel Tree Society helps buy Christmas presents for needy children in low-income households. Last year, the society delivered about 400 gifts.

After a threat of disbandment due to lack of board members, several Iqalummuit joined board member Corinne Attagutsiak (right) at a meeting she organized Nov. 7 to continue the Angel Tree campaign. The Angel Tree Society helps buy Christmas presents for needy children in low-income households. Last year, the society delivered about 400 gifts. “Our next steps will be to write letters to local businesses for donations, book tables at craft sales, request donations of baked goods and crafts to sell at the craft sales, and to set up tables at local stores for donations,” Attagutsiak said. “We have a lot of work to do in a short time frame but at least we have the board and volunteers to do it all.” (PHOTO BY DAVID MURPHY)
