Photo: Iqaluit city council looks to water rate increases

As part of its 2012 budget, Iqaluit’s finance committee approved water rate increases Jan. 4 that could see a two per cent annual hike among residential and business users. Government and institutional users can expect an even larger increase of up to 13.5 per cent on their annual water bills. Iqaluit city council says the hikes will help maintain the city’s utilidor service, water truck delivery, sewage treatment and its water dam at Lake Geraldine, pictured here.
