Iqaluit city councillor Noah Papatsie, alongside his guide dog Xeno, and Wendy Ireland, executive director of the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society, prepare for the second annual “Walk, Wag and Roll” event June 14 in Iqaluit. The fundraising walk helps support Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind group and Papatsie said money raised also goes to NDMS and the Iqaluit Humane Society. The walk is important to Papatsie, whose sight was damaged in a workplace accident. He said more and more people in Iqaluit, and in the territory, have impaired vision. “We need to be catching up with the south so I tried something,” Papatsie said. (PHOTO BY DAVID MURPHY)
