Photo: Iqaluit firefighters raise money through shirt sales

Iqaluit Firefighters Association T-shirts have become a popular item among visitors to the fire hall. Iqaluit firefighter and paramedic Ryan Gilbert can’t explain why but he was more than happy to stock up on supplies this month to keep from running out. “Fire department shirts are a big thing in the fire service,” says Gilbert, who is president of the association. “It’s a common gift among firefighters, but it’s also a great way to support us, and to support the community through our events.” Proceeds from the sale of the $20 shirts help to pay for fire safety promotion and training as well as the department’s participation in holiday events and festivities.
