Baffinland Iron Mines Corp. which owns the Mary’s River iron mine project in northern Baffin Island, received the “Business of the Year” award at the Nunavut Trade and Conference, which took place this week in Iqaluit. Among the other award recipients: Willie Hyndman, “Businessperson of the Year,” for his efforts in spearheading Iqaluit’s country food markets and “Project Sealift” to bring organic goods into Nunavut; Rick Lefebvre, a retired First Air manager, recipient of the “Lifetime Achievement” award; and Cheri Kemp-Long, an economic development advisor businesses in Nunavut, recipient of the “Special Achievement Award.” (FILE PHOTO)
