Aaju Peter of Iqaluit takes in “Polar Lines,” a display of Canadian newspaper cartoons on themes related to Inuit and the Arctic, selected by the renowned Montreal Gazette editorial cartoonist Terry “Aislin” Mosher. “We vent for our readers,” said Mosher, who talked about his favourite selections, including a cartoon that depicts a polar bear on an ice floe eyeing a crocodile. The cartoon exhibition was launched Nov. 1 during the opening reception for Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami’s two-day “From Eskimo to Inuit in 40 years” conference, part of the organization’s 40th anniversary celebrations at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. On Nov. 2, the ITK conference includes a “founders forum,” with past ITK presidents and sessions on “Inuit political reform and resolve,” Inuit youth and Inuit language and education. You can listen to an audio feed of the discussions on line at www.itk.ca. (PHOTO BY JANE GEORGE)
