Preschoolers play with puppets after listening to Catherine Hoyt, president of Friends of the Iqaluit Centennial Library, read a story as part of the library’s activities during Nunavut Literacy Week, Sept. 23 to Sept. 30. On Sept. 26, Nunavummiut can participate in the “Read for 15 Challenge.” To enter the contest you can read a book, magazine, comic book or website. Just read for 15 minutes at home, school or work and then, if you’re in Iqaluit, call the library at 979-5400 by Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. to report the number of people in your household who read for 15 minutes. On Sept. 29, Kids in Grade 3 and up can come to Iqaluit’s library and take a new book home with them.
