Jack Allakariallak, a Grade 4 student at Iqaluit’s Joamie elementary school, holds the new remote control car he won March 18. That’s after Allakariallak found out at the opening of his school’s first winter carnival that his button design had won a contest held at the school a month ago. Now 300 staff and students at the school are wearing buttons that promote “the snowy carnival.” A poster of Allakariallak’s design will also hang in the school gym all week until March 22 when the winter carnival ends.
