Photo: Kamiks display western Arctic craftsmanship

A pair of vibrantly coloured kamiks provide the perfect contrast for a snowy wooden wall. Cambridge Bay photographer Denise Lebleu borrowed the embroidered kamiks from a friend who got them as a gift. The seamstress, who used moose hide for the feet, hails from Paulatuk, Northwest Territories, she said. Lebleu said she hung the kamiks from the historic Hudson Bay Company historic, across from the Cambridge Bay Visitor’s Centre, to showcase the intricate handiwork. (PHOTO BY DENISE LEBLEU IMAGES)
