Photo: Kivalliq mural project a hit with youth

Plywood transformed into art: thanks to a Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association grant, the Rankin Inlet Youth Centre has been transformed into a gallery of original art made by youth (examples pictured above). The Kivalliq Youth Mural Project, which took place in Rankin Inlet, Arviat and Baker Lake during the month of March, attracted about 20 teenagers and twenty-somethings from each community and proved to even some of the more cynical youth that creativity and artistic expression live within everyone, said art educator and mural coordinator Pascale Arpin.
