Jose Angutinguniq, the oldest resident of Kugaaruk, stands in front of the bowhead whale that local crews harvested Aug. 31. Hunters set out out that same morning, spotting and killing the 31 foot-long whale by mid-afternoon. Kugaaruk is the second bowhead whale caught in Nunavut this summer. Clyde River hunters brought in a 54-foot-long whale Aug. 3, while hunters in Chesterfield Inlet have been looking for their whale since early August. (PHOTO BY LAETITIA APSAKTUAN)
