Photo: Kuujjuammiut offer spirited send-off to skiers

Good luck! Stay warm! Ski well! Residents of Kuujjuaq offered a warm send-off to a group of 10 Jaanimmarik high school students and their teachers March 19 as the intrepid athletes embark on a cross-country ski journey from Kuujjuaq to Tasiujaq, roughly 140 kilometres. They hope to cover 15 to 20 kilometres each day which would make their journey last about eight days. The expedition was inspired Projet Karibu — a group of four skiers who made a four-month, 2,000-kilometre trek from Montreal to Kuujjuaq last year. (PHOTO BY ISABELLE DUBOIS)
