Photo: Kuujjuaq kids pitch in to clean up their town

More than 100 kids filled nearly 1,200 bags with garbage in Kuujjuaq this past weekend during an annual spring community clean up in Kuujjuaq. Garbage truck operator Daniel Watkins, who doesn’t usually work weekends, put the truck on the road especially for the event, which began Friday evening and ended on Sunday afternoon. Volunteers were treated with food afterward and organizers drew names for donated prizes. Children were also given $2 for every garbage bag they filled. (PHOTO BY ISABELLE DUBOIS)
