Gardeners in Kuujjuaq got money from the Kativik Regional Government this summer so they could repair the community’s greenhouse, where many people grow their own vegetables. And more help for Kuujjuaq’s aspiring gardeners could be on the way. As part of its Plan Nord development plan, launched this past May, Quebec pledged to create of a “bio-food research network,” which could lead to the construction of more greenhouses in Nunavik and additional support for marketing Nunavik-grown produce in the region.
