Workers put new blue and green siding on Jaanimmarik school in Kuujjuaq, as the 25-year-old building, which serves 400 students in the middle and upper grades, sheds its 1980s tan finish for a more contemporary look. This week teachers from Nunavik’s Ungava coast schools are at the school for a week of workshops on “the compassionate school,” an approach designed to help teachers cope with their students’ trauma and abuse.
