Inutiq, who’s been on the job since January 2013, will be leaving her post as of June 3, it was announced Monday in the Nunavut legislature. “I wish to take this opportunity to publicly thank the languages commissioner, Miss Sandra Inutiq, for her service,” said Joe Enook, acting speaker of the Nunavut Legislative Assembly, on day one of the spring session, May 30. “The management and services board will be issuing an invitation for applications in the near future to fill this position. I urge all members to join me in thanking Miss Inutiq for her service.” The resignation followed the tabling of two languages commissioner documents at Nunavut’s legislature — the most recent annual report for 2014-2015 and the report into the recent investigation into language services at the Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqaluit.
