Photo: Lighting the lights in Kuujjuaq

It’s that time of year again… Kuujjuammiut marvel at their community Christmas tree which was officially revealed, in all its glory, on Dec. 6. This is the fourth year that the Northern Village of Kuujjuaq has erected a holiday tree outside the Katittavik Town Hall. Elder Johnny Peters was chosen this year to flip the switch and light the lights. After the lights came on, residents along with the mayor and municipal councillors sang Christmas carols to mark the beginning of the holiday season.
