Photo: Long days coaxing colour to the land

Arctic heather, left, and yellow marsh saxifrage, burst from the ground along the shoreline in Iqaluit, a sure sign that spring is here. Nunavut’s tundra comes alive in spring with Arctic willow, fireweed, Mountain aven, Arctic cotton and of course, the territorial flower: purple saxifrage. Spring blossoms also mean that berry-picking season is right around the corner. (PHOTOS BY THOMAS ROHNER)
