Arviat photographer Paul Aningat snapped this hungry polar bear after it wandered into the community's landfill July 13 looking for something to eat. The Kivalliq community has seen an increase in bears in and around the community this summer - enough that the hamlet has put wildlife officers on call 24 hours a day and issued a warning to residents to beware of the bears.
