Iqaluit publisher Lousie Flaherty was awarded the 2011 Council of the Federation Award for Nunavut Oct. 24 at the legislative assembly. The award honours the achievement of an adult learner who has worked to promote their language. Flaherty, a former teacher, went on to found Inhabit Media, an independent Iqaluit-based publishing house that has put out dozens of Inuktitut and English-language books since it was launched in 2006.
