Simeonie Uppik, left, and Johnassie Sala hold up nitsiit that they made in shop class at Paatsaali School in Sanikiluaq. Nitsiit are used by hunters to hook seals, beluga and other marine animals out of the water during harvesting. Paatsaali’s shop class teachers often get students to make traditional tools including harpoons, qamutiks, fishnets, kakivaks and ulus.
