Jan Wanggaard, the project manager of “Maud returns home,” tells about 80 people at an Aug. 15 public meeting in Cambridge Bay about his group’s plans to bring the ship once sailed by Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen back to Norway. Wanggaard, who arrived in Cambridge Bay earlier this month, has been evaluating the hull of the ship, which sunk off Cambridge Bay 80 years ago, before moving ahead with plans to take it back to Norway by barge next summer.
