Many will remember Aug. 20 for the tragedy that took place four years ago today near Resolute Bay. Here, on Aug. 20, 2012, under grey skies, family members, friends and Resolute Bay residents gathered to remember First Air flight 6560, which crashed into a hill near Resolute Bay on Aug. 20, 2011, in a memorial service during which a monument to the three survivors and 12 dead was unveiled. The monument quotes Romans 8:38-9 : “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (FILE PHOTO)
