Campaigns for the Oct. 28 territorial election have moved into high gear in Iqaluit, where 19 candidates seek seats in four constituencies. These signs by the Apex Road pitch the names of three candidates. Four to six candidates are vying for election in each of four seats. But that’s not the only election set for Oct. 28 in Iqaluit: one seat on city council is also up for grabs but municipal candidates say residents don’t know about it. “There’s a lot of confusion now,” said municipal candidate Noah Papatsie. “We have to get the word out to all Iqalummiut, rather than just one riding in Iqaluit,” said fellow candidate Stephen Mansell. “So we have a pretty big task ahead of us.” (PHOTO BY PETER VARGA)
