Photo: NACA collects styrofoam for Alianait art

The Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association and Iqaluit's Alianait Arts Festival are ready to recycle one small part of Iqaluit’s waste — and help novice printmakers turn out works of art. Pascale Arpin, shown here, will head up a print-making workshop at the Alianait festival this year, and is collecting styrofoam trays from food packaging which will be used to make the prints. The workshop will be part of Alianait’s children and family programming, offering them a chance to practice an activity that is “an iconic and important part of Nunavut,” Arpin said, who's urging everyone to take their washed styrofoam trays to the blue bin at the NACA office, building 607, in Iqaluit.
